BIOGRAPHY
JNR is a UK-based dance music producer, DJ and songwriter blending euphoric club energy with a feel-good throwback twist.
Inspired by the golden days of Clubland, HedKandi and trance, JNR’s sound fuses the sparkle of the ‘90s and ‘00s with modern production and pop-savvy songwriting. Having accidentally fallen into DJing after a bootleg mix series called Handbag House gained traction online, JNR quickly found himself behind the decks across Newcastle and beyond — with gigs across Leeds, Manchester, Gran Canaria and more. His sets are designed with one goal: audience enjoyment. Whether it’s house, trance, tech or commercial club, JNR’s musical DNA is all about making people dance and feel good doing it.
As a producer, JNR began experimenting with software at age 12 and now brings years of experience to his own original tracks and remixes. His first year of releasing music saw over 300,000 Spotify streams, features on BBC Introducing, and growing label interest — particularly around his recent singles Meant To Be and Lose Control, where he debuted as a songwriter. He’s also collaborating with vocalist Natalie Gray, with more joint releases on the way, and recently began working with ‘80s Hi-NRG icon Hazell Dean on a series of 40th anniversary remix releases.
Career highlights include warming up for Becky Hill in Leeds, a residency at the late iconic Tunnel nightclub, and a DJ slot at various UK Prides and festivals. During the pandemic, JNR pivoted into radio, landing a weekly show on Pride Radio that still runs today.
Despite the upbeat vibe of his music, JNR is refreshingly down to earth — more likely to let the music do the talking than grab the mic. He puts out his club-ready mixes online for free, purely out of love for the craft and the audience who tunes in. His music is a go-to soundtrack for house parties, workouts and road trips — as described by fans and DJs alike. With regular DJ slots in Newcastle and a steady release schedule, JNR is now focused on growing his catalogue, developing more original vocal work, and bringing his live set to festival stages.
